Daily Media Monitoring Brief — Sudan Friday 6 November 2026

Executive Summary
• A UN shelter alarm: UNHCR and IOM say only 6% of people needing shelter and household items have been reached (936,000 of 15.4 million), and IOM's head of mission Mohamed Rafat says its warehouses in Sudan are "completely empty now". The $2.9 billion humanitarian plan is less than half funded.
• The fuel crisis deepens: Sudan Tribune puts a gallon of petrol at about 48,800 SDG in Khartoum and 50,000 in Nyala; farmers warn of "comprehensive famine" as irrigation pumps stop, while Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim denies the country is nearing famine. Bakery owners warn of a "collapse of the bread industry" in Khartoum.
• Health in Darfur: MSF warns of measles and whooping cough outbreaks as vaccination falls and cold chains fail — over 10,600 suspected measles cases in South Darfur through April 2026. The Doctors' Syndicate preparatory committee reports rising TB, hepatitis, malaria and dengue.
• North Kordofan — two accounts: the Joint Force says it took Umm Sumeima, Kazgil, Al-Hamadi and Abu Qaud, destroying 40 combat vehicles and seizing 43; RSF fighters post videos saying they still hold them. Darfur24 raises the Al-Abbasiya Tagali toll to "more than 19" and reports civilian deaths in the Damazin attack.
• Egypt announces the fourth phase of its campaign against illegal gold mining from Saturday, after detaining 690 people including 540 foreigners, and says operations are inside its borders. A Sudanese coalition protests, saying earlier strikes hit inside Sudan — an unverified claim
