Shahid Evidence · SMIMA — Sudan Media Intelligence & Monitoring Daily Media Monitoring Brief — Sudan Sunday 1 November 2026

Executive Summary
• The energy war moves north: drones knocked out the Al-Dabbah (Northern) and Abu Hamad (River Nile) substations at dawn on Sunday, cutting power to both towns and their villages. AP reports the Al-Dabbah station guard was killed; Sudan Tribune reports a woman killed near a fuel station in Al-Multaqa. The rights group Emergency Lawyers counts 15 substations targeted since early October. Attribution to the RSF is not independently verified, and the RSF has not commented.
• A grid near collapse: according to AP, the Merowe Dam (1,250 MW) now supplies over 70% of Sudan's electricity, after output fell from 4,400 MW before the war to 1,100 MW before the strike wave. The Sudan Doctors Network warns hospitals, dialysis centres and vaccine cold chains are at risk.
• The Port Sudan authority's Council of Ministers orders "maximum" official and popular mobilisation, threatens "the maximum possible penalty" for anyone shown to have given the RSF coordinates of targeted sites, and launches domestic and international media campaigns.
• Yasir al-Atta in Khartoum: the army is heading to Darfur and Kordofan to fight "mercenaries"; he accuses the UAE and Mossad and says the war targets no tribe. These are his first recorded public remarks since the Abu Dhabi verdict, which he did not mention. The foreign minister tells Sputnik Sudan has "conclusive material evidence" of Ukrainian involvement and has taken it to the Security Council — without publishing the evidence.
• Living conditions: "dozens" of bakeries in Khartoum State have closed over diesel and flour shortages, with a loaf at 500 SDG since 9 October. The dollar trades at about 10,000 SDG in Khartoum versus 4,600–5,500 in cash in Nyala — what Sudan Tribune calls a "silent economic war".
