Shahid Evidence · SMIMA — Sudan Media Intelligence & Monitoring Daily Media Monitoring Brief — Sudan Monday 2 November 2026

Executive Summary
• The energy war reaches the east: drones hit the Aroma and New Halfa distribution stations in Kassala State and a station in Northern State (Merowe/al-Ghazali in two accounts) at dawn on Monday; local sources say all of Kassala State lost power. Al Jazeera (via Anadolu) counts 18 strikes on the grid in a week, Sudan Tribune more than 17 stations. No casualties reported. Attribution to the RSF rests on local sources; the RSF has not commented.
• The Port Sudan authority formally complains against Ethiopia to the UN Security Council and the AU Peace and Security Council, accusing it of letting the RSF launch drones from its territory. A Sovereignty Council report cites 70 attacks with 187 drones between 15 February and 27 October and 484 civilians killed or wounded, naming Asosa airport, the Kurmuk–Gizen area and Bahir Dar airbase. No Ethiopian response recorded; Addis Ababa has previously denied any link.
• The Arab League calls the targeting of energy facilities in six states "a war crime requiring accountability" and attributes it to the RSF.
• UN envoy Pekka Haavisto tells The National the UN wants talks with the RSF on a civilian transition "before Christmas", and that a Quintet meeting with the RSF and its allies could be held in Addis Ababa.
• In Tasis-held areas, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo dissolves civil administrations and founding councils in the four Darfur states and West Kordofan (Darfur24). In Blue Nile, the army says it repelled an attack on Bakori and Sali and that an RSF group surrendered in Damazin, its commander accusing Ethiopia — one-party accounts. In North Darfur, IOM reports about 2,000 people displaced from Karnoi and Um Baru, some into Chad.
